MemberDirect® Online Banking
Make money management easier with MemberDirect®, the innovative system that gives you 24-hour online access to your accounts.
MemberDirect® lets you handle most of your financial transactions right on your personal computer, tablet, or smartphone. Whether it’s transferring funds, paying bills or getting an itemized printout of last month’s account transactions. And that’s just the beginning.
With MemberDirect® Online Access, you can:
- Transfer funds between accounts
- Send Interac E-Transfers by email or text message (Formerly called “Email Money Transfers”)
- View your statement information
- Click to view cheques you’ve written
- Set up security alerts
- Pay bills directly (current or post- dated)
- Create, list and remove stop payments.
- Create, list and remove vendor accounts.
- Look up current exchange rate
- MemberDirect® Direct Security
MemberDirect is now also available and optimized for your smartphone!
Simply click on the MemberDirect Link with your smartphone on our website. MemberDirect will automatically recognize that you are accessing the site with your smartphone and direct you to an optimized version of MemberDirect.
TeleService Telephone Banking
TeleService is a voice response system that allows members to perform specific financial transactions and account inquires on their credit union accounts via any touchtone phone, using a toll-free number. TeleService is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Access is available throughout North America.

MemberDirect® Direct Security Alerts
Guard against online fraud.
Direct Alerts let you know when important changes have been made to your information in MemberDirect Online Banking. These alerts add additional protection allowing you to identify and report potential fraudulent activity as soon as it happens.
You will be notified when:
- A new bill payee is added to your list of vendors
- An Interac e-Transfer recipient has been added
- Your Personal Access Code (PAC) is changed via online banking
- You are locked out of MemberDirect online banking after 3 attempts to log in
- Your MemberDirect account has been logged into
Direct Alerts can be sent as a text message to your mobile device, as an email to your email address, or both. You can review the last 30 days of alerts history in online banking. Just click on the View Alerts History link on the Message and Alerts tab. You can also manage your alerts by editing the contact information, account nicknames, or choosing different alerts to be received. You’ll find all of these functions under the Manage Alerts Contacts and Mobile Nicknames tab.
Registering for Direct Alerts is easy.
Just a few quick steps and you’re all set up. You can choose how you want to be notified and even assign which form of contact will be assigned to each alert.
- Log into online banking
- Click the “Messages and Alerts” tab on the left
- Choose which alerts you would like to add and whether you would like the alerts by email, text, or both (Standard text messaging/data rates from your Cell carrier would apply).
- We encourage members to sign up for all alerts as another line of defense against fraud.
Interac® Flash* Technology
As of 2016, all Membercard® debit cards have Interac Flash technology to enable quick “tap” payments at participating point-of-sale locations. To learn more about Interac Flash, check out the following video:

Download the “Ding Free” ATM Locator App to your smartphone to find out where the nearest surcharge-free ATM is located wherever you are in Canada!

Interac® Online Payments
Pay for purchases online as if you were at the store paying with your NBTA Credit Union MemberCard. For information on Interac® Online Payments and find out which Canadian retailers accept it, please visit the Interac Online Payments site.

Use other credit unions as your own – credit unions provide professional, over the counter service throughout Atlantic Canada with more than 150 locations to serve you
Did you know that your NBTA Credit Union account balances are just a text* message away? Whether you’re in line at the grocery store or on the run, you can get your balances texted* to you. To set up this service, log-in to MemberDirect online banking, click on “My Profile”, and follow the instructions on the “Mobile Banking” tab.

Your credit union can provide access to your money 24 hours a day 7 days a week – full service is available at more than 135 Atlantic Canada locations and you can withdraw cash at more than 1500 credit union ATMs across Canada.
