General Manager’s Message

Margery Nichol, General Manager

March 2018

Spring has arrived although today I would be hard pressed to know this by looking out my window at the snowbanks that still surround our parking lot. The good news is warmer weather is expected next week and we will soon be thinking of what to plant in the garden and complaining that the lawn needs mowed again. Are we ever happy with Mother Nature?

As Spring approaches, many of us turn our thoughts toward home renovations big and small. I want to remind you of our Greener Home Loans program which offers a great rate on loans that improve your home’s efficiency. The funds can be used for anything that helps reduce your energy consumption. This could include new windows and doors, upgrading your heating and cooling systems, purchasing energy efficient appliances, or upgrading insulation. Please feel free to give us a call for further details. We will also be running our mortgage campaign with special rates that will be announced on April 4th. Check our website or speak to one of our lenders for full details. Buying or renovating a home should be an exciting event. Jill and Shawnalynn are more than happy to assist you with financing and will review all your options. You can get preapproved before you go looking for your perfect home and we can hold the interest rate for 90 days.

I would like to invite all our members to attend our Annual General Meeting that is being held April 19, 2018 upstairs in the NBTF building, located at 650 Montgomery Street, Fredericton. Registration starts at 6:30 pm with the meeting starting at 7:00 pm. We will be holding an election of members to our Board of Directors and Bob Fitzpatrick, our President, and I will be updating you on what has been happening at your credit union over the past year. We also give away some great door prizes and serve some light snacks.

March is Fraud Prevention Month and I wanted to draw your attention to a couple of tips that will help to keep you safe from those trying to compromise your information.
• Add the alerts that are available on MemberDirect, our online banking platform.
• Make your passwords difficult to guess and change them often.
• Never keep your PIN and your debit card together and never write it on your card.
• Review your accounts often and report and suspicious transactions immediately.

I receive many call and emails from our members telling me about the wonderful service they received from our staff. Here is a quote from one such email:
“I just can’t thank you enough for everything you are doing for us. You really have gone above and beyond to help us reach our financial goals…. We look forward to our new relationship with you and the NBTA Credit Union. No bank has ever made us feel this valued and we truly feel like we are home.”

Cooperatively,

Margery Nichol, General Manager
