About Us

It is an exciting time of the year as we look forward to the pleasures that the summer months of July and August bring.  We start thinking about vacation, back yard BBQ’s with family and friends, family reunions, sandy beaches and relaxing in the sun.

Some of you have taken the leap into retirement this year and to you I would like to extend, on behalf of the staff and directors, our congratulations on a job well done.  You have reached yet another milestone in life’s journey and we wish you the happiness that comes with the sheer indulgence of sitting back with your feet up enjoying life.

From one quarter to the next, I usually have lots to share and this quarter is no exception.  Firstly, I will ask you to join me in welcoming our new Assistant Manager, Margery Nichol.  Margery hails from McAdam and brings with her 19 years of banking experience with nine of those years working within the Credit Union System.  We are very fortunate and pleased to have Margery join the NBTA Credit Union team.

We are also delighted to have Jill Harris, Lending and Mortgage Officer and Chris Reid, Member Service Representative join the team.  Jill and Chris joined us in February and their pictures were included in our March issue.

Kate White joined us May 25 to do a five week work term relating to her Business Administration Diploma through the New Brunswick Community College of Saint John.  We were so impressed with her abilities and friendly manner that we have asked her to continue with us for the summer as Member Service Representative.

I want to say “thank you” to everyone who was able to attend our June 8 meeting regarding the “opening of the bond” and to all who called with your endorsement, support, as well as, your objections.

As with every profession, change is inevitable and many of you as educators can certainly attest to that as you have experienced several changes in the teaching profession over the years. Opening our bond to the general public is somewhat of a poignant change for some of us and understandably so.  However, time does not stand still and we must move forward as well.

I wish all of you could have seen the presentation at the meeting to view the number of changes we have gone through over the past 39 years.  NBTA Credit Union was incorporated in October, 1971.  We are where we are today because you, as owners,  recognized the potential of your business and have not stood still.  By making this decision on June 8 you have not only opened the bond, you have opened many doors of opportunity for your credit union.

The major concern that has been expressed to me is that of “service”.  The service you are so accustomed to will not be affected.  We are not perfect, nor do we pretend to be, but we do pride ourselves on our service and we will continue to strive to maintain the quality of service you expect and presently receive.

As always, I enjoy our quarterly visits and it seems I am always running out of my allotted space.  Before I end, I want to draw your attention to some tips enclosed with regards to protecting your personal information.  In today’s electronic world, one can never be too cautious when it comes to disclosing their personal or financial information over the phone, email or internet.  Please be aware and protect yourself.

I wish each of you a happy and safe summer.  Please feel free to drop in, call or e-mail anytime - my door is always open.
