The following defines who can become a Member-Owner at NBTA Credit Union. If you have questions about this document, please call our office at 506-452-1724.
For the purposes of interpretation of membership in our Articles of Continuance, the following definition will apply:
Immediate family shall include:
- spouse (including widows and widowers) *
- children (including step-children)
- parents (including step-parents)
- grandparents
- grandchildren
- in-laws (parents, brothers, sisters)
- brothers (including step-brothers)
- sisters (including step-sisters)
Provided they comply with the conditions of membership as in the Articles of Continuance as follows:
- NBTA Members
- NBTA Associate Members
- NBTA Staff
- NBTA Credit Union Staff
- NBTF Staff
- NBTF Group Insurance Staff
- New Brunswick Teachers' Association
- New Brunswick Teachers' Federation
- New Brunswick Teachers' Federation Group Insurance
- The Department of Education and its employees
- New Brunswick School Trustees' Association
- N. B. Society of Retired Teachers
- University and College employees
- Retired members of any of the aforementioned groups
- The immediate family of any of the aforementioned members
- Corporations partially owned by members of any of the aforementioned groups
- Partnerships where one of the partners is a member of the credit union
- Active membership may also be granted to the employees only of the NBTF office of Johnson Insurance Limited.
- Employees of Educational Learning and Training Centres
- Student enrolled in Faculty of Education in any accredited university
* spouse shall mean:
- A husband or a wife, who is married through an ecclesiastical or civil ceremony, or
- An individual of the opposite sex who has been residing with the member for a period of not less than one year and who has been publicly recognized as the husband or wife of the member, or
- An individual of the same sex who has been residing with the member for a period of not less than one year in a spousal relationship, or
- An individual who was pre-deceased by the member.
